Christopher Dean has been the CEO of Blue Energy since its foundation in 2010 and was, with Mark Healey, its co-founder. By background, a Chartered Surveyor, Chris brought a wealth of experience to the renewable energy industry following a diverse career in property development and management. Much of this was spent at a senior and executive level, which encompassed investment, development, valuation, funding and planning. Chris was recognised as a respected advisor and became regional head of office at Savills PLC, Manchester. During his tenure at Savills, Chris was instrumental in some of the North West’s highest profile regeneration and new builds, which collectively realised more than 6m sq. ft. of new development. Prior to forming Blue Energy, Chris established a niche property development and investment company, which specialised in environmental remediation and large-scale mixed-use urban regeneration projects. Chris is the majority shareholder of the BE Group.
Simon Foy is the commercial director and general counsel of Blue Energy. He has worked with Blue Energy since its foundation in 2010 and has managed the corporate, commercial and legal functions throughout its evolution. A highly experienced projects and corporate lawyer, prior to joining Blue Energy Simon worked at a number of leading international law firms including Simmons & Simmons, DLA Piper and PwC Legal and has lived and worked in various jurisdictions in the Middle East and Central Europe. He has also held a number of senior general counsel roles in the energy sector including positions at Edison Mission Energy, AMEC Global Renewables and, since 2010, at Blue Energy. He holds an MA in Modern History and an M-Phil in International Relations from Oxford University. Simon is also a significant shareholder in the BE Group.
Simon Tonge is a highly experienced construction and operations manager and has worked extensively with Blue Energy as the construction and operations director for delivery of all of our projects. Simon is a Chartered Surveyor and holds an MBA from Reading University, he has played a key role in developing and subsequently project managing the EPC and O&M strategies. Simon has very broad and extensive experience of UK and international infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy and transport sectors, having been an equity partner at EC Harris in Manchester with responsibility for the North West Property Team advising banks, developers, investors, end user/occupiers, retailers, hotel operators and education bodies and an owner/manager of his own private consultancy business.
Stuart Noble is a Chartered Accountant with 25 years experience gained with SME’s and larger corporate businesses in the UK and internationally, prior to joining Blue Energy in 2011. Stuart combines strategic vision with strong financial control. Stuart’s career includes various finance and commercial roles at a number of private and public companies both in the UK and overseas. Stuart holds a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Manchester and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
Neal Reid is one of the most experienced developers of wind farms in the United Kingdom and is focused on the continuing development of Blue Energy’s UK wind portfolio. Neal was responsible in particular for developing the 108.8MW Beinneun Project, one of the UK’s largest onshore wind farms, which achieved consent from the Scottish Government in less than a year from submission. During fifteen years working in the onshore wind industry Neal has worked on developing over 1GW of projects, most of which are now consented or operational. During eight years at Scottish Power he was part of the small team which developed the Whitelee (322MW) and Black Law (124MW) projects.
